The Miami Marlins dropped their second straight game on the west coast as they were defeated by the San Diego Padres 5-1 at Petco Park on Tuesday night. The Fish are now 5-13 on the road this season.
Everth Cabrera began the first inning for San Diego(15-18) with a walk. After Chase Headley's single to right with one out, Yonder Alonso knocked in Cabrera on a sacrifice fly to left field for a 1-0 lead.

Will Venable followed with a two-run homer to right field against Alex Sanabia on a 1-0 pitch. Later in the frame, Alexi Amarista doubled to left-center field and scored on a base hit to right field by Cabrera with two outs.
Miami(10-24) got on the scoreboard during the fourth inning. Matt Diaz hit a lead-off double to right field off Eric Stults and advanced to third on a Placido Polanco ground out. Two batters later, he scored on a double by Marcell Ozuna to right field and cut the deficit to 4-1.
A.J. Ramos gave up one more run to the Padres in the eighth inning. The Marlins were unable to complete a double play on a Venable at-bat to end the inning as Alonso crossed the plate.
