Cliff Lee held the Miami Marlins to three hits as they were shut out by the Philadelphia Phillies 3-0 on Wednesday night at Marlins Park. The Fish now have a record of 7-18 at home this season and lost nine of their last 11 games.
Philadelphia(23-24) got the first run of the game during the fourth inning. Delmon Young blasted a two-out solo home run to left-center field on a 0-2 pitch from Miami(13-34) starting pitcher Kevin Slowey for his third home run this season with his new club.
The Phillies added two more runs on a two-out rally in the sixth inning against Wade LeBlanc. Young reached base on an infield base hit. He scored on a triple by Domonic Brown to deep right field. Freddy Galvis came up and drove in Brown on a single into left field.
Slowey dropped to 1-5 as he went five innings, gave up one run on six hits and struck out six. Lee, who got his 12th career shutout, pitched a complete game as he hurled all nine innings, allowed no runs on three hits and improved to 5-2.
