Christian Yelich drove in all the Marlins runs as Miami got by the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1 in ten innings on Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park. It was the second straight game that the Fish won in extra innings over the Phils after Jose Fernandez became the third fastest starting pitcher to reach 500 career strikeouts on Monday.
Both teams scored during the fourth inning. Yelich hit a solo home run on a 0-2 pitch to right-center field for a Miami(51-42) lead. Tommy Joseph evened it up for Philadelphia(43-52) in the bottom of the frame as he smacked a solo homer down the left-field line on a 2-1 count.
The contest went into extra innings and the Marlins retook the lead in the tenth inning when Yelich knocked in Adeiny Hechavarria with a base hit into left field for the go-ahead run.
