Panthers Trade Nick Bjugstad For Derick Brassard

     The Florida Panthers have traded Nick Bjugstad and Jared McCann to the Pittsburgh Penguins for Derick Brassard, Riley Sheahan, a 2019 second-round pick and two 2019 fourth-round picks.
     Bjugstad was selected 19th overall in the first round by the Panthers during the 2010 NHL Draft. He played seven seasons with the club and his best season was in 2014-15 when he had 24 goals and 19 assists in 72 games. He had a season-high 49 points in 82 games last season. Bjugstad finished his Panthers career with 87 goals and 104 assists in 394 games with the team. He played 32 games this season and put together five goals and seven assists.
     McCann was acquired by Florida following the 2015-16 season for Erik Gudbranson. He played parts of three seasons with the Cats. His best campaign was in 2017-18 when he compiled nine goals and 28 points in 68 games. McCann has eight goals and 10 assists in 40 games this season.
     Brassard has made several stops in the NHL which includes the Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers and Ottawa Senators. He helped the Rangers win the 2014 Eastern Conference championship and made the Stanley Cup Final. The Penguins picked him up for the playoff push last season from the Senators. He has 171 goals and 443 points in 756 NHL games during his 12-year career. Brassard has nine goals and 15 points in 40 games this season.
     Sheahan played his first seven seasons with the Detroit Red Wings and was traded to the Pens early last season. He had 11 goals and 21 assists for them in 2017-18 and compiled seven goals in 49 games this season.
