Jose Reyes Retires

Former Miami Marlins shortstop Jose Reyes announced his retirement on Wednesday. He was a vocal leader for several Major League Baseball clubs he played for.
Reyes was part of the spending spree that Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria made following the 2011 season signing several free agents. The team changed their designation from Florida to Miami when they moved into Marlins Park to begin the 2012 regular season.
He was with the Marlins for just one year. Reyes had a .287 batting average with 11 home runs, 57 runs batted in and 40 stolen bases in his short stint.
Reyes was best known playing shortstop for the New York Mets from 2003 to 2011. He helped them reach the National League Championship Series in 2006 against the St. Louis Cardinals.
