Marlins Cut Down Nationals

The Miami Marlins edged the Washington Nationals 4-3 on Wednesday at loanDepot park. The Marlins, who have won three straight games, will complete their six-game homestand on Thursday before playing a three-game weekend series against the Giants in San Francisco
Washington(18-25) jumped on the Fish in the top of the second with two runs. Former Marlins player Corey Dickerson pounded a two-run homer to right-center field on a 1-0 pitch with Jeimer Candelario aboard. It was the first home run for Dickerson with his new team. Dickerson made his fifth plate appearance this year and was playing in just his third contest with the Nats.
Miami(22-21) answered back in the bottom of the second to make it 2-1. Yuli Gurriel hit a sacrifice fly to left field and Bryan De La Cruz scored.
The Marlins took the lead 3-2 in the fourth inning. Jorge Soler blasted a two-run homer to center field on the first pitch to center field for his 11th home run of the season. Luis Arraez scored in front of him on the play.
It became 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth for the Fish. De La Cruz doubled to right-center field wall and Soler crossed the plate.
The Nationals trailed 4-3 in the seventh inning. Alex Call grounded out to shortstop and Dickerson reached home.
