Padres Clip Marlins

The San Diego Padres pushed by the Miami Marlins 9-4 at loanDepot park on Tuesday night. The Marlins began a nine-game homestand this week against the Padres followed by the Oakland A's and then the Kansas City Royals.
Miami(28-27) moved to a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Garrett Cooper singled through the left side and Bryan De La Cruz scored.
San Diego(25-29) tied it 1-1 in the top of the fourth. Matt Carpenter doubled to the right-field wall and brought in Rougned Odor
The Fish answered back quickly in the bottom of the fourth. De La Cruz blasted a 1-0 pitch to left field for a two-run homer with Jon Berti aboard for a 3-1 lead. It was his seventh home run for De La Cruz in the 2023 campaign.
The Padres cut it to 3-2 in the fifth inning. Juan Soto knocked in Ha-Seong Kim with a base hit into right field.
The Marlins loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth and eventually made it 4-2. De La Cruz singled through the right side and Berti crossed the plate.
It became 4-4 in the seventh inning when the Friars evened it up. Fernando Tatis Jr. drove in Trent Grisham on a base hit to left field. Juan Soto followed with a single to center field and Kim reached home.
In the ninth inning, San Diego broke the game open and compiled fiver runs for an 9-4 lead. Xander Bogaerts singled up the middle and Tatis scored. Odor then grounded into a fielder's choice and Soto would score on a throwing error by Berti to the plate.
Carpenter came up next and lined a double into the right-field corner for Bogaerts and Odor to cross the plate. Three batters later. Kim hit a sacrifice fly to right-center field and Brandon Dixon came home.
