Marlins Skip By Nationals

The Miami Marlins squeezed by the Washington Nations 5-4 at loanDepot park on Tuesday night. The Marlins now have a 13-1 record in one-run games this season.
Miami(21-21) took a 2-0 lead on a strange play in the bottom of the second. Joey Wendle grounded into a force out at second for Jean Segura to score. Nationals starting pitcher Josiah Gray fell down and fumbled the ball on the attempted completion of a double play at first base for an error. Peyton Burdick strolled on home to make it 2-0.
Washington(18-24) chopped it down to 2-1 in the sixth inning. Lane Thomas sliced a solo home run to right field on a 0-1 pitch for his fifth homer of the season.
The Nationals moved ahead 4-2 in the top of the eighth. Jeimer Candelario singled through the right side and Luis Garcia crossed the plate. Three batters later, Dominic Smith drove in Michael Chavis and Candelario with a base hit up the middle for a 4-2 lead.
The Marlins had a last chance in the ninth inning, and they made the best of it with a two-out rally. Luis Arraez knocked in Garrett Cooper on a single to right field and cut it to 4-3. Jorge Soler came up next and blasted a walk-off, two-run homer to left-center field on a 3-2 count. Pinch-runner Jon Berti scored in front of him on the play.
