Panthers To Face Maple Leafs

     The Toronto Maple Leafs will take on the Florida Panthers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The Maple Leafs beat the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night in six games during the first round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. 

     It will be the second in three years that both teams will face each other in the postseason. Florida defeated Toronto in five games back in the 2023 Eastern Conference Semifinals. 

Jose Urena Leaves Mets

     New York Mets pitcher Jose Urena has rejected an assignment to the minor leagues and has elected free agency. He appeared in just one contest with the Mets this season. 

     Urena was once with the Miami Marlins for six seasons from 2015 to 2020. He helped the Fish make the postseason in 2020 for the first time in 17 years. Urena had a 32-46 record and a 4.60 earned run average with the Marlins. 

Yankees Acquire Bryan De La Cruz

     The New York Yankees have claimed outfielder Bryan De La Cruz off waivers from the Atlanta Braves. He will play for the Yankees Triple-A affiliate in Scranton.

     De La Cruz was with the Miami Marlins for four seasons from 2021 until the middle of the 2024 campaign. He had 55 home runs, 191 runs batted in and a .258 batting average in 431 games with Miami. 

Bill Lindsay On Panthers Radio Road Games

     Bill Lindsay worked all Florida Panthers road playoff games during their first round clash against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He usually does not work Panthers away games due to his other job as a studio analyst on NHL Network. 

     He has been the radio game analyst for Florida home games since the 2015-16 season alongside play-by-play announcer Doug Plagens. Lindsay worked 40 out of 41 regular season home contests in 2024-25. The only game he missed was when the Panthers hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins on March 23. 

Jordan Travis Retiring

     Former Palm Beach County high school football quarterback Jordan Travis will be retiring from the National Football League. He was selected by the New York Jets in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He was not involved in one play with the Jets last season. 

     Travis was with the Benjamin Buccaneers at one time. He split his time in college football between the University of Louisville Cardinals and the Florida State University Seminoles.

Bills Signing Elijah Moore

     The Buffalo Bills will be signing wide receiver Elijah Moore to a deal. The Cleveland Browns inked him to a UFA tender which was the first in the NFL since 2022. It unfortunately would not take into effect until July. 

     Moore played high school football with the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders. He helped STA win three straight FHSAA Class 7A state championships from 2014 to 2016. He was with Ole Miss playing college football. 

ESPN West Palm No Inter Miami CF Broadcast

     ESPN West Palm 106.3 WESP-FM did not have the Inter Miami CF English language radio broadcast last night. The Herons hosted the Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup Semifinals. 

     It has been a unique broadcasting rights deal between the radio station and the team. Ken LaVicka has announced regular season home games on site at Chase Stadium. He has not traveled with the club for road games and called contests from a South Florida studio.
