West Boca Raton Takes American Heritage

     Two defending state champions faced each other of the football gridiron on Friday night in Broward County. The reigning two-time FHSAA Class 6A state champions the West Boca Raton Bulls defeated the two-time defending FHSAA Class 4A state champions the American Heritage Patriots 24-7 at Bill Laurie Stadium in Plantation. 
     West Boca Raton(1-0) moved out to a 7-0 lead. They were able to pick up a touchdown with four minutes remaining in the opening quarter when quarterback Trey Moran fired a 40-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Lorontae Davis on the left hash marks. The Bulls increased their lead to 14-0 three minutes into the second quarter as Davis caught a five-yard touchdown swing pass from Moran on the right side. 
     American Heritage(0-1) surrendered another touchdown midway through the third quarter and found themselves behind 21-0 when Moran plunged up the middle from one yard away. The Patriots got on the scoreboard later in the third with a rushing touchdown and trailed 21-7. The Bulls got a 44-yard field goal from Kyle Aller two minutes into the fourth quarter and led 24-7.
