Dave O'Brien Extended By Red Sox

     Former Florida Marlins play-by-play announcer Dave O'Brien will have his contract extended by the Boston Red Sox. His tenure will continue for another two years through the 2028 season. 

     He joined as the Red Sox radio play-by-play announcer in 2007. O'Brien was elevated and replaced Don Orsillo as the television play-by-play announcer on NESN in 2016. 

     O'Brien began his Major League Baseball broadcasting career as a radio play-by-play announcer with the Atlanta Braves from 1990 to 1991. He joined the Florida Marlins as their first radio play-by-play announcer along with Joe Angel in 1993. O'Brien and Angel added duties as Marlins television play-by-play announcers in 1997 replacing Jay Randolph. O'Brien stayed in the Florida Marlins broadcast booth through the 2001 campaign. 

     He moved on to ESPN in 2002 to become a play-by-play announcer on baseball, men's college basketball and soccer games. O'Brien was the New York Mets television play-by-play announcer on WPIX-TV from 2003 until 2005.
