St. Thomas Aquinas Wallops Western

     The defending FHSAA Class 5A state champions the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders went on the road and decimated the Western Wildcats 42-0 on Friday night in Davie. The Raiders began their march to win a state-record eighth consecutive state title and state-record 18th overall high school football state championship. 
     St. Thomas Aquinas(1-0) rocketed out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. They scored a touchdown within the first two minutes of the contest. The Raiders extended it to 14-0 with four minutes left in the second quarter. It became 21-0 for STA in the final minute of the first half with another touchdown. 
     Western(0-1) was in trouble early in the second half. St. Thomas Aquinas scored on their first possession of the third quarter at the nine-minute mark and led 28-0. The Raiders picked up another touchdown with three minutes remaining in the third for a 35-0 lead. STA reached the end zone again midway in the fourth quarter to lead 42-0.
