First baseman Carlos Lee has been traded by the Houston Astros to the Miami Marlins for two minor league prospects. The Marlins will pay the bulk of money owed to Lee in the final year of his contract. He rejoins Ozzie Guillen who managed him in 2004 with Chicago White Sox. Lee hit .287 with five home runs and 29 RBI in 66 games with Houston this season. He has 354 home runs and 1,315 RBI in his major league career.
Lee broke into the majors with the White Sox in 1999 and played there until 2004. He was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers and stayed there for 1 1/2 seasons until he was sent to the Texas Rangers. Lee signed a six-year contract with the Houston Astros in 2007. He has only made the playoffs once in his career with the White Sox in 2000.
