Nats Stomp Marlins

    It was the first game after the All-Star Game break as the Miami Marlins fell to the Washington Nationals 5-1 on Friday night at Marlins Park. The Marlins are now ten games behind the Nationals in the National League East.
    Jordan Zimmerman(6-6) pitched four-hit shutout ball in six innings with six strikeouts. Josh Johnson(5-6) had a tough outing as he give up five runs on 11 hits in 5 1/3 innings.
    The Nats put up one run in the second inning. Adam LaRoche begin with a double to deep right field and Ian Desmond knocked him in on a single to center field. 
    Washington extended their lead in the third inning as Ryan Zimmerman cracked a two-run homer on a 3-1 count to left-center field with one out . Bryce Harper scored on the play. It was the ninth home run for Zimmerman this season.
    The Nationals added two more runs in the sixth inning to make it 5-0. LaRoche and Desmond got singles with none out. After Danny Espinosa hit a sacrifice fly to center to advance LaRoche to third, Desmond stole second. Jesus Flores then had a two-run single to left field.
    The Fish avoided the shutout in the seventh inning when Henry Rodriguez relieved Jordan Zimmerman. Justin Ruggiano and Emilio Bonifacio both walked with one out, then Ruggiano was able to steal third. He scored on a single by John Buck to right field.
