Marlins Trade Hanley Ramirez

The Miami Marlins have traded third baseman Hanley Ramirez and pitcher Randy Choate to the Los Angeles Dodgers for pitcher Nathan Eovaldi. Ramirez played shortstop for six years with the team until switching over to third base this season with the addition of Jose Reyes. Ramirez has 14 home runs, 47 RBIs and a .246 batting average in 92 games this season.
He won the National League batting title in 2009 with a .342 batting average and also had a career-high 106 RBIs that season along with 24 home runs. The Marlins acquired him in a seven-player deal along with Anibal Sanchez after the 2005 season from the Boston Red Sox for Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell.
Choate was signed by the Marlins as a free agent in 2011 as was mainly as a middle reliever for 98 games over the last two seasons. Eovaldi started ten games for the Dodgers this season and had a record of 1-6 with an earned run average of 4.15.
