Inclement weather halted Wednesday's game in the top of the eighth inning as the Miami Marlins lost to the Chicago Cubs 5=1 at Wrigley Field. It was a rare stoppage in a Marlins game because they moved into a new stadium this year with a retractable roof. They conclude the three-game series on Thursday afternoon.
The Marlins got their only run of the game as Jose Reyes had a lead-off solo home run to right field on a 0-2 pitch in the third inning. It was the fourth homer for Reyes this season.
Starlin Castro tied the game for the Cubs as he blasted a lead-off solo home run to left-center field on a 0-0 count in the fourth inning for his eighth homer this year.
Chicago added four runs in the seventh inning prior to the bad weather coming in. Alfonso Soriano on third with one out when Geovany Soto hit an RBI-single to left field for the go-ahead run. Darwin Barney and Luis Valbuena got consecutive singles to load the bases. Mike Dunn entered the game to relieve for Josh Johnson(5-7), who gave up four runs on five hits. Jeff Baker came in to pinch-hit as smacked a two-run double to left field. David DeJesus put a sacrifice fly to center field and Valbuena scored.
