Former South Plantation running back Alex Collins appears on the cover of Lindy's college football magazine on a SEC regional issue for the state of Arkansas. Collins played for the Paladins from 2009 until 2012 and joined the Razorbacks as a true freshman last year.
University of Miami running back Duke Johnson, who once played for the Norland Vikings and led them to a FHSAA state championship, appeared on Sporting News and Lindy's magazines as a member of the Hurricanes in 2013. He will appear on the cover of the 2014 national edition of Lindy's for the second straight year.
Many former South Florida high school players have made an appearance on the cover of national college football magazines over the last three years. Running back Tre Mason of Park Vista and Auburn University appeared on many regional magazine covers during 2013 which included Phil Steele, Athlon's and Lindy's. He eventually had a fine season where he led the Tigers to the SEC Championship, put them in the BCS national championship game against Florida State and was nominated as a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.
The Florida Gators were well represented in 2012 with defensive Matt Elam from Dwyer and linebacker Jon Bostic of Palm Beach Central. Quarterback Geno Smith of Miramar and West Virginia showed up on the Big East magazine cover in 2011 and the Big 12 magazine cover in 2012.
Two former St. Thomas Aquinas players appeared on different magazine covers in 2013 prior to Florida State capturing the BCS National Championship. They were defensive back Lamarcus Joyner on Lindy's national cover and wide receiver Rashad Greene on Athlon's ACC cover. Current Alabama and former Miami Northwestern wide receiver Amari Cooper also was seen on a state of Alabama magazine cover for Phil Steele last year.
