The Miami Heat came back from far behind to beat the Indiana Pacers 99-87 in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals at American Airlines Arena on Saturday night. The Heat remained undefeated at home during the NBA playoffs with a 6-0 record. The Pacers had won their previous five road games in the postseason.
Indiana jumped out to a 19-5 lead in the first nine minutes of the game and led 21-14 after one quarter. Miami chipped at the gap during the second quarter as they closed the second on a 16-5 edge and trailed 42-38 at halftime.
The Heat outscored their opponent 33-22 in the third quarter and were up 71-64 at the end of the period. The closest the Pacers came to take the lead in the fourth was went they were down 76-74 with 8:37 left. Miami went on a 23-13 run during the final stretch of the game.
LeBron James led the Heat with a game-high 26 points and seven assists in 40 minutes of play. Dwyane Wade knocked down 23 points and Ray Allen added 16 . Chris Bosh and Norris Cole both contributed nine points.
Four of the five Indiana starters had double-figure scoring. Paul George nailed in a team-high 17 points, Roy Hibbert dropped down 16 and David West had 13. Lance Stephenson contributed a double-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds and five assists in 46 minutes.
