There was limited scoring chances in this game as the Miami Marlins got by the Milwaukee Brewers 2-1 on Saturday at Marlins Park. The Fish improved their best home record in Major League Baseball to 20-7.
Miami(26-24) got the first run of the game in the second inning against Wily Peralta. Casey McGehee led off with a single to left field and scored two batters later when Jarrod Saltalamacchia smashed a double into right field.
The Marlins put up an additional run in the bottom of the seventh with Tyler Thornburg on the mound. Adeiny Hechavarria picked up a base hit to right field and then stole second. Pinch-hitter Jeff Baker followed with a single into center field to score Hechavarria and made it 2-0.
Milwaukee(29-21) held off being blanked until the eighth inning against A.J. Ramos. Ryan Braun came in from second as Jonathan Lucroy doubled to deep right field with one out.
Jacob Turner pitched shutout ball for 6 1/3 innings and allowed eight hits to raise his record up to 1-2. Peralta moved down to 4-4 when he gave up one run on six hits in six innings.
