The Miami Marlins pulled off a three-game sweep of the New York Mets with a 1-0 walk-off victory at Marlins Park on Wednesday. The Fish, who got their fourth walk-off win this season, won their fourth straight game and finished with their best nine-game homestand in franchise history as they compiled a record of 8-1. The Mets were blanked for the fourth time this year.
The only run of the game was in the bottom of ninth by Miami(19-15). Giancarlo Stanton smacked a single through the left side with none out against Carlos Torres and he went to second on a walk by Casey McGehee. Garrett Jones then hit a sacrifice fly to deep right field and moved Stanton to third. New York(16-17) had Kyle Farnsworth come in and relieve for Torres. Stanton scored on a sacrifice fly to right-center field by Marcell Ozuna.
Tom Koehler started for the Fish as he pitched eight innings and allowed no runs on two hits. Mets starting pitcher Zack Wheeler struck out seven and gave up no runs on two hits in six innings. Steve Cishek improved to 3-1 as he pitched the final inning for Miami.
