Heat Lose First Game

     The Miami Heat lost their first game in the 2014 NBA playoffs on Saturday night as they fell to the Brooklyn Nets 104-90 at Barclays Center in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinal. The Heat were victorious in their previous six postseason games this year. They still lead the best-of-seven series 2-1.
     Only three players from the Heat scored in double digits. LeBron James compiled 28 points, eight rebounds and five assists in 40 minutes. Dwyane Wade contributed 20 points and Chris Bosh scored 12 points.
     Joe Johnson was one of four Brooklyn starters that had double-digit scoring as he put together a team-high 19 points and six assists. Kevin Garnett had ten points with seven rebounds while Paul Pierce drained down 14 and Shaun Livingston poured in 12.
     Neither team led by more than five points during the entire first half. Miami was up 30-29 after one quarter and trailed 51-49 at halftime. The Nets went on an 18-7 run at the end of the third quarter and moved ahead 77-63. Brooklyn got their largest lead of the game which was a 20-point cushion at 95-75 with 4:52 left in the fourth quarter.
