Ichiro Suzuki got his 3,000th career base hit in Major League Baseball as the Miami Marlins defeated the Colorado Rockies 10-7 at Coors Field on Sunday. He became the 30th player in baseball history to reach the 3,000 hit plateau. He is now tied with Roberto Clemente for 29th all-time in base hits.
Ichiro accomplished the feat in the top of the seventh inning as he smacked a triple into deep right field. Paul Molitor was the only player of the previous 29 to get a triple for the historical hit.
