Miami Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM finished as the top sports format radio station in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale region for the first time since the start of the calendar year. Both they and 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM tied for first place back in January.
WQAM stayed flat with a 0.9 in the month of August and for the third time in the last four ratings periods. They began as the new flagship station of the Miami Dolphins radio broadcasts while the club started their preseason.
The Ticket had remained the same in the previous three months with a 1.1 during that span. They took a tremendous drop and lost almost half of their audience moving down to a 0.6 in August. The station has still not filled in the hole of a permanent host in early afternoons.
Miami Sports 940 WINZ-AM came in at a 0.2 for the second straight month. They did have a 0.3 in the first three months of the baseball season with Miami Marlins radio broadcasts.
