Marlins Split Doubleheader With Nationals

Brian Anderson collected three home runs as the Miami Marlins dumped the Washington Nationals 14-3 in a seven-inning contest on Friday night at Marlins Park. Anderson matched Mike Lowell in 2004 and Cody Ross in 2006 with three homers in one game by a Marlins player. Both clubs ended up splitting a doubleheader.
Washington(19-30) raced out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Kurt Suzuki hit a sacrifice fly to left field which scored Trea Turner. Josh Harrison then drove in Juan Soto with a single into right field.
The Marlins got one run in the bottom of the frame. Corey Dickerson ripped a solo home run to right-center field on a full count. The Fish tied it in the second inning when Anderson belted a solo shot to left-center field on a 1-2 pitch.
Miami(26-24) took the lead with four runs during the third inning. Jesus Aguilar walked with the bases loaded and Dickerson scored. Miguel Rojas grounded into a fielder's choice for Starling Marte to score. Lewis Brinson singled into left field for Garrett Cooper and Aguilar to cross the plate.
Anderson added two more home runs to make it a blowout win for the Marlins. He had three-run homers in the sixth inning and seventh inning. Cooper and Aguilar were both on base during both blasts.
