Nats Take Fish

The Miami Marlins were beat by the Washington Nationals 3-2 on Thursday night at Nationals Park. Miami moved to 25-53 on the road this season and they have lost five of their last six games.
Miami(56-97) took the initial lead in the first inning against Gio Gonzalez. Donovan Solano led off with a double to right and scored on a base hit by Ed Lucas to right-center field.
Washington(82-71), who will finish the year with a winning record, scored their only runs with three tallies in the bottom of the frame. After Denard Span flew out to left field, Ryan Zimmerman singled to right and Jayson Werth walked. Bryce Harper followed with a three-run homer to right-center field on a 2-2 pitch thrown by Henderson Alvarez. It was Harper's 20th home run this season.
The Marlins closed the margin to 3-2 during the sixth inning. Giancarlo Stanton began with a double to left field. He would then cross the plate on a double by Justin Ruggiano into left field.
Alvarez dropped to 4-5 this season as he pitched five innings and allowed three runs on seven hits. Gonzalez improved to 11-7 as he gave up two runs on seven hits in six innings pitched.
