Ric Blackwell has returned to WPEC-TV Channel 12 for a second stint at that station as a weekend morning news anchor. He previously joined the organization in 1993 as a sports anchor and was elevated to the morning and midday news anchor positions at WPEC-TV and WFLX-TV Channel 29 in 1995. His contract was not renewed by both stations in December 2010.
Blackwell, a Central Michigan University grad, will continue as a show host for Good Sports on The Education Network in Palm Beach County. He was the play-by-play announcer for Dwyer Panthers home games in 2011 and 2012 as they were broadcast on Seaview Radio 960 WSVU-AM in North Palm Beach. Blackwell was also a newscaster at that station.
He began his broadcasting career as a weekend news anchor and news reporter at WCFT-TV in Tuscaloosa, Alabama from 1987 until 1989. Blackwell moved on to Fort Myers where he was a sports anchor and sports reporter at WINK-TV between 1989 and 1993.
