Two former Marlins broadcasters returned to Miami on Wednesday night and announced the Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals game to a national audience on ESPN. John "Boog" Sciambi was the play-by-play announcer while Eduardo Perez was the game analyst on the television broadcast.
Sciambi had not done a baseball game in quite some time in South Florida. He was a radio play-by-play announcer with the Florida Marlins from 1999 to 2004. He did the radio pre-game and post-game shows for the team in 1997 and 1998.
He also hosted an evening show and co-hosted a midday show with original Florida Panthers radio voice Chris Moore on Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM from 1993 until 1997. Sciambi was the studio host for Florida Panthers radio broadcasts during the 1995-96 season which they got to the Stanley Cup Finals. He moved on to 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM in 2004 and worked as a midday host for one year.
Perez was one of several primary television game analysts with Rich Waltz on Fox Sports Florida last season. He was a studio analyst and game analyst for ESPN prior to joining the Marlins in 2016. He is the son of Baseball Hall of Fame player Tony Perez.
