The Miami Marlins dropped to last place in the National League East with a 3-1 defeat to the Atlanta Braves on Saturday night at Marlins Park. The Fish have lost eight of nine and 14 of their last 17 games.
Atlanta(13-20) rolled out to a two-run lead in the fourth inning. Nick Markakis knocked in Freeman with a base hit into center field. Dansby Swanson later followed with an RBI-single to center which brought in Markakis
Miami(13-22) cut the lead down to 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh. Justin Bour hit a home run for the third consecutive game.
The Braves added an insurance run during the top of the eighth. Freeman scored on a throwing error by Derek Dietrich.
