The Miami Marlins defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 at Marlins Park on Monday night. The Fish have prevailed in four of their last six games and won two straight games for the first time since April 23. The Phillies, who have the worst record in Major League Baseball, lost for the 23rd time in the last 29 games.
Miami(19-30) compiled two runs during the third inning to take the lead. Dee Gordon doubled to right for J.T. Riddle to score. Giancarlo Stanton then knocked in Gordon on a base hit into shallow center field.
Philadelphia(17-32) got one run back in the top of the fifth. Aaron Altherr singled into left field which brought in Jeremy Hellickson for the Phils only run of the contest.
The Marlins extended their margin when Derek Dietrich powered a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning with J.T. Realmuto on base. It was just his second home run of the season.
