The Miami Marlins began the Citrus Series on Monday night and were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays 4-2 at Marlins Park. The Marlins have lost four of their last five games.
Miami(11-13) jumped out to an early lead for the first time in the current homestand during the first inning. Dee Gordon scored on a sacrifice fly to left field by Christian Yelich.
Tampa Bay(13-14) got two runs and moved out in front in the top of the fourth inning. Tim Beckham dropped a two-run double into right field which brought in Corey Dickerson and Rickie Weeks Jr.
The Fish tied it up 2-2 in the bottom of the frame. Marcell Ozuna smashed the first pitch over the wall in left field for a solo home run.
The Rays regained the lead in the seventh. Steven Souza Jr. grounded into a fielder's choice to make it 3-2. They added an additional run in the eighth inning when Daniel Robertson knocked in Brad Miller with a base hit into center field.
