The Miami Central Rockets played the first game of the Palm Beach Lakes Jamboree and blasted the host Rams 28-0 in a two-quarter game at Dick Melear Stadium on Friday night. The Rockets have captured the FHSAA Class 6A state championship in four of the last five years.
Early in the first quarter, Miami Central made it 7-0 on a 25-yard pass down the left sideline from quarterback Maurice Underwood to wide receiver Terrell Perriman.
Palm Beach Lakes lost the ball on a fumbled snap during their next possession at their own 40-yard line. The Rockets punched it in on a fullback carry from one yard out for a 14-point margin.
Rockets backup quarterback Tijuane Morten had his jersey completely ripped up and destroyed when he was tackled on a play on their first drive of the second quarter. Underwood reentered the game. fired a 53-yard touchdown pass to Perriman in the front right corner of the end zone on his first play back and extended their lead to 21-0.
Rams quarterback Jalen Hall fumbled the ball on a carry at the Palm Beach Lakes 35. Several plays later, Miami Central scored on a 25-yard run up the middle to make it 28-0.
