25th Anniversary Of Panthers Series Win

     Tuesday was the 25th anniversary of the last time the Florida Panthers won a playoff series. They defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 7 on the road when Tom Fitzgerald scored a go-ahead goal in the third period to become Eastern Conference Champions. 

     The Panthers have lost seven consecutive playoff series since then. Florida was swept by the Colorado Avalanche in the 1996 Stanley Cup Finals. The New York Rangers defeated them in 1997. The Panthers lost to the New Jersey Devils in 2000 and 2012. They fell to the New York Islanders in 2016 and 2020 along with their recent ouster by the Tampa Bay Lightning last week.
