Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov captured the Frank J. Selke Trophy for the 2020-21 season on Friday night. The trophy is given to the best defensive forward during the regular season.
It was the second major National Hockey League trophy for Barkov in his career. He got the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy back in 2018-19. He was the first Florida player to win the Frank J. Selke Trophy.
He became the fifth player in NHL history to win both the Frank J. Selke Trophy and Lady Byng Memorial Trophy. Barkov joins Ron Francis, Pavel Datsyuk, Anze Kopitar and Ryan O'Reilly,
Barkov played in 50 contests for the Panthers in 2020-21. He had 26 goals and 32 assists totaling 58 points along with 39 takeaways on defense.
