George Beasley Passes Away

Beasley Media Group founder and executive chairman George Beasley passed away on Wednesday at the age of 89. His organization has impacted South Florida radio for many decades.
Their previous brand of Beasley Broadcasting owned several radio stations in the Miami and Fort Lauderdale area. They controlled Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM, Power 96 WPOW-FM and Kiss Country 99.9 WKIS-FM. They bought the cluster of stations from Sunshine Wireless Company in 1996 and sold them to CBS Radio in December 2014.
Beasley Media Group still owns numerous radio stations in the South Florida region. The organization still runs several Boca Raton stations including 1470 WWNN-AM. They surrendered the license of Money Talk Radio 740 WSBR-AM to the Federal Communications Commission in April.
Beasley owns a bunch of radio stations in Fort Myers and Naples. It includes sports formatted ESPN Southwest Florida 770 WBCN-AM.
They do operate other sports radio stations in other parts of the United States. 97.5 The Fanatic WPEN-FM in Philadelphia and 98.5 The Sports Hub WBZ-FM in Boston are some recognizable brands in the radio broadcasting industry.
