There were no players with local South Florida high school or Florida college connections on the 2021 Phil Steele's College Football Preview magazine cover. It was the second straight year that it happened. The publication had just one national cover with no regional covers just like in 2020.
At least one local player appeared on the Phil Steele magazine cover from 2010 until 2019. Jacory Harris of the University of Miami and Miami Northwestern was on the SEC/ACC/Big East cover in 2010.
Other locals on the magazine cover during the previous decade included Geno Smith(West Virginia/Miramar), Jon Bostic(Florida/Palm Beach Central), Amari Cooper(Alabama/Miami Northwestern), Tre Mason(Auburn/Park Vista), Duke Johnson(Miami/Miami Norland), Jake Rudock(Iowa/St. Thomas Aquinas), Alex Collins(Arkansas/South Plantation), Dalvin Cook(Florida State/Miami Central), Lamar Jackson(Louisville/Boynton Beach), Quinton Flowers(South Florida/Miami Jackson), Nick Bosa(Ohio State/St. Thomas Aquinas), Jonathan Garvin(Miami/Lake Worth) and C.J. Henderson (Florida/Columbus).
