Nationals Knock Off Marlins

The Washington Nationals topped the Miami Marlins 7-3 on Thursday night at loanDepot park. It was the first contest of a four-game series between both clubs.
Washington(36-36) piled on five runs during the first two innings of the game. Kyle Schwarber bashed a solo home run to left field in the top of the first on a 2-2 pitch.
Schwarber hit a three-run shot in the next inning with Josh Harrison and Victor Robles aboard. The ball went over the center-field fence on a 0-2 count. It was the 21st homer of the season for Schwarber. Juan Soto later knocked in Trea Turner with a double into center field.
The Nationals eventually had a seven-run cushion after seven innings. Miami(31-43) compiled three runs in the bottom of the eighth. Jazz Chisholm Jr. powered a three-run homer to right-center field on a 2-2 pitch. Jon Berti and Luis Marte both scored in front of him on the play.
