Angels Edge Marlins

The Miami Marlins finished off a five-game road trip on the west coast with a 4-3 defeat to the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium on Tuesday night. The Marlins will have their home opener on Thursday against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Miami(1-4) got out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the third. Bryan De La Cruz sliced a single to right field and it went by Jo Adell for an error. Garrett Cooper scored from first on the play.
Los Angeles(3-3) evened it up 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth. Jake Mayfield doubled into the right-field corner for Mike Trout to score.
The Angels moved ahead 3-1 in the sixth inning. Anthony Rendon smashed a two-run homer to left field on a 2-1 pitch with Trout aboard for his first home run of the 2022 campaign.
The Marlins tied it 3-3 in the following frame. Jazz Chisholm Jr. cracked a two-run home run over the right-field wall for his second homer of the season. Jon Berti was on base when that happened.
In the ninth inning, Los Angeles scored the winning run. Max Strassi hit a ground ball to short and Miguel Rojas bobbled it. Tyler Wade raced in from third base and beat the throw home for the 4-3 victory.
