Marlins Step By Nationals

The Miami Marlins dropped the Washington Nationals 5-2 on Tuesday night at Nationals Park. The Marlins reached the .500 mark for the first time this season and continued a six-game road swing.
Miami(8-8) waited until the fourth inning to go ahead 3-0. Joey Wendle smashed a three-run homer to center field on the first pitch with Jesus Sanchez and Garrett Cooper aboard. It was the first home run of the season for Wendle.
Washington(6-13) put up one run in the bottom of the frame. Yadiel Hernandez knocked in Juan Soto with a base hit into center field.
The Marlins made it 4-1 in the top of the sixth. Jacob Stallings singled to the left side for Cooper to score.
It became a four-run margin for Miami in the top of the eighth. Stallings drove in Wendle as he grounded out to second.
The Nationals cut it to 5-2 during the bottom of the eighth. Josh Bell singled up the middle and Soto crossed the plate.
