Panthers Clinch Playoff Spot Over Sabres

The Florida Panthers handled the Buffalo Sabres 5-3 on Sunday at KeyBank Center. The Panthers clinched an Eastern Conference postseason berth with the victory. It is just the eighth playoff appearance for the team in 28 NHL seasons.
Florida reached the Stanley Cup Playoffs in three consecutive seasons for the first time in franchise history. The Cats appeared in the postseason two straight seasons only once in 1995-96 and 1996-97.
The Panthers swept the two-game weekend road swing and face the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night. Florida clinched a playoff spot with 26 days left in the campaign. Their final contest is on April 29 at Montreal.
Jonathan Huberdeau set a Panthers franchise record as he picked up his 97th point in a single season. He passed Aleksander Barkov who had 96 points during the 2018-19 season. Huberdeau has five goals and eight assists in his current eight-game point streak.
