Marlins Take Series Over Braves

The Miami Marlins pulled off a 5-4 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Sunday at Truist Park. The Marlins won two contests of the three-game series against the defending World Series champions.
Miami(7-8) broke out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth. Avisail Garcia doubled to left field for Jesus Aguilar to score. Garrett Cooper followed with a base hit up the middle and Garcia crossed the plate.
Atlanta(7-10) scored in the bottom of the fifth and were down 2-1. Matt Olson grounded to first and Manny Pina reached home.
The Marlins expanded their lead to 3-1 in the sixth inning. Jacob Stallings hit a sacrifice fly to left field and Jon Berti scored.
It became a four-run margin for the Fish in the top of the seventh. Cooper slashed a double to deep left for Jorge Soler to get home. Joey Wendle came up next and drove in Cooper with a double into right.
The Braves attempted a comeback in the ninth inning. Olson knocked in Travis Demeritte on a sacrifice fly to right field. Austin Riley then smacked a two-run homer to left-center field on a 3-1 pitch with Ozzie Albies aboard. It was the fourth home run of the season for Riley.
