The Miami Marlins got a four-run rally in the fourth inning as they edged the New York Mets 4-2 on Tuesday night at Citi Field. Jose Reyes extended his hitting streak to 25 games. Carlos Zambrano(7-9) picked up the win after pitching 1 1/3 innings of hitless ball in middle relief. Marlins starter Wade LeBlanc was unable to qualify for the win because he went only four innings.
Miami handled Mets starting pitcher Jonathan Niese(8-6) as they blew the game open with four runs in the fourth. The Marlins began with two infield singles by Justin Ruggiano and Jose Reyes. Ruggiano scored on a Carlos Lee single to left field. Giancarlo Stanton hit an RBI-sacrifice fly to center field and brought in Reyes.
Austin Kearns singled into right center and advanced Lee to second. Two batters later, John Buck doubled into right field to score Lee and Kearns for a 4-0 lead.
Daniel Murphy socked a lead-off home run to right field in the fifth inning for his fourth homer of the season. Later in the frame, the Mets continued with a two-out rally as Jason Bay and Ike Davis singled into left field. Bay scored on a single to right field by Andres Torres.
