Ramirez Returns, Marlins Lose

Hanley Ramirez went 3-for-5 with 2 RBIs in his return to Miami as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Marlins 5-2 on Friday night at Marlins Park. Local sports history was made as the Marlins and the Miami Dolphins played home games on the same day for the first time ever. Both teams had played at Joe Robbie Stadium, currently Sun Life Stadium, from 1993 until 2011.
Clayton Kershaw(10-6) went 6 1/3 innings for the Dodgers and allowed two runs on three hits while he struck out seven. Mark Buehrle(9-11) took the loss for Miami as he gave up four runs on seven hits in six innings.
Justin Ruggiano put the Marlins into the lead in the first inning as he blasted a one-out solo home run to center field on a 3-2 pitch. It was his 10th homer of the season.
The Dodgers got four runs in the sixth inning off Buerhle. Shane Victorino began the frame with a double to right-center field. Two batters later, Matt Kemp drove him in on a double into left field and tied the game. Ramirez knocked Kemp in on a single to right field. After Andre Ethier struck out, Juan Rivera smashed a two-run homer over the left field wall on the first pitch for his fourth home run this year.
Miami closed the gap to 4-2 in the bottom of the stanza. Gorkys Hernandez came in to pinch-hit for Buerhle and got an infield single. Three batters later, he scored on a Carlos Lee sacrifice fly to center field.
Los Angeles extended their lead with one run in the seventh inning. With the bases loaded and two out, Ramirez hit an infield single to score A.J. Ellis.
