The game was decided on the second pitch of the game as the Philadelphia Phillies edged the Miami Marlins 1-0 at Marlins Park on Tuesday night. Miami was shut out for their third straight game. They tied a franchise record with 27 consecutive innings without a run.
Josh Johnson(7-9) pitched a three-hitter through eight innings for the Fish when he was removed from the game. He gave up one run on three hits and struck out seven Phillies.
Kyle Kendrick(5-9) hurled seven shutout innings for Philadelphia, allowed five hits and struck out six. Jonathan Papelbon picked up his 26th save as he worked the ninth inning.
Jimmy Rollins led off the game with a solo home run to right field on a 1-0 count in the opening frame. It was his 14th homer this season. He passed Larry Bowa for most games played as a Phillies shortstop with 1,731.
