Miami/Fort Lauderdale Arbitron Ratings July

    Once again 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM continued as the top sports format radio station in Miami/Fort Lauderdale for the month of July. Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM remained flat from the previous month while 940 WINZ-AM The Sports Animal dropped off the map this past month. The July ratings seemed to be a disappointment for all the stations.
    790 The Ticket took a big fall from a 1.6 in June to a 0.9 in July. The audience from broadcasting the Miami Heat championship run in June did not carry into the next month. The Miami Marlins had a dismal month in July as interest waned. The station also had numerous people who tried to fill in the morning co-host position with Marc Hochman after Jon Weiner, aka Stugotz, had enough of working double duty every weekday at that station through early July.
    Sports Radio 560 stayed the same with a 0.7 in July just like they did in June. The ratings period ended in a crash for the station when midday host Michael Irvin was let go after being there for two years. It has also been hurt with no game broadcasts of any local team in July.
    940 The Sports Animal totally disappeared from the ratings and could not garner even a 0.1 in July. The station had a 0.4 back in June. It seemed the audience is waiting for the start of training camp for the Miami Dolphins on their flagship station. The last local sports station that recorded less than a 0.1 was 1400 The Fan WFLL-AM which they did on a constant basis between 2004 and 2006.
