Nats Beat Marlins


    The Washington Nationals put up four runs in the second inning to defeat the Miami Marlins 4-1 on Sunday at Nationals Park. Jose Reyes extended his hitting streak to 24 games with a single in the fourth inning. Stephen Strasburg improved his record to 12-5 as he pitched six scoreless innings, struck out six and allowed three hits.
    Washington began the second inning as Jason Werth singled to left and Danny Espinosa was hit by a pitch. Both advances on a fly out to center by Jesus Flores. Strasburg singled to deep right field to bring in Werth and Espinosa for a 2-0 lead.
    Steve Lombardozzi followed with a walk and Bryce Harper singled into right to load the bases off Ricky Nolasco(8-11). Two batters later, Strasburg and Lombardozzi scored on a two-run single by Adam LaRoche to center field.
    The Marlins closed the gap against Craig Stammen in the seventh inning. Carlos Lee led off with a double to left field and then scored on a Greg Dobbs double to deep right-center field.
