Miami Central At Carol City Preview

Two District 16 rivals in Dade County will decide which school will advance in the FHSAA playoffs as the Miami Central Rockets tangle with the Carol City Chiefs at Traz Powell Stadium on Friday night in a Class 6A regional semifinal. The Chiefs topped the Rockets 36-28 in Week 10 for the district title.
Miami Central(9-2) began the regular season with road victories in the first five weeks against Cardinal Gibbons, Booker T. Washington and St. Thomas Aquinas. Their only two losses this year to Carol City and St. John's was by a combined 11 points. The Rockets struggled to a 35-20 win at Dillard last week. They have outscored their opponents 452-170 this season.
The focal point of the Rockets offense comes down to quarterback Maurice Underwood. Their rushing attack will depend on running backs Lexington Joseph and Kejon Owens with carries from the backfield. Underwood will look downfield to wide receivers Jaylin Young, Anthony Colonel, Anthony Frederick, Shamar Zaragoza and Geovanni Ribalta for pass completions.
Carol City(9-2) would now be undefeated, however they had to forfeit their first two regular games which were non-district contests against American Heritage and Columbus. The Chiefs have won nine consecutive games and were the 2016 FHSAA Class 6A state champions. They have outscored their last nine opponents 387-72. They shut out district rival Norland 34-0 last week.
