17 South Florida high schools advanced to the third round of the 2018 FHSAA football playoffs. There were a total of 29 teams at the end of the second round.
Palm Beach County went from nine teams to six. Palm Beach Central, Dwyer, Glades Central, American Heritage, Kings Academy and Pahokee advanced. Palm Beach Lakes, Benjamin and Glades Day lost.
Broward County dropped from nine schools down to six. Deerfield Beach, St. Thomas Aquinas, Cardinal Gibbons, American Heritage, University School and Chaminade-Madonna moved on. Plantation, Fort Lauderdale and Western had their seasons end.
Dade County fell from 11 squads to five. Winners included Columbus, South Dade, Miami Central, Miami Northwestern and Champagnat Catholic. Teams who lost were Miami Palmetto, Miami Southridge, Carol City, Booker T. Washington, Gulliver Prep and Palmer Trinity.
