Panthers Get By Islanders

The Florida Panthers outlasted the New York Islanders 4-2 at BB&T Center on Satruday night. The Panthers extended their winning streak to a season-high three games.
Things began well for Florida(5-5-3) as they got up 1-0 at 6:20. Jared McCann had the puck on the end wall, had it touched by Nick Bjugstad and McCann centered it. Denis Malgin poked the puck past Robin Lehner from the low slot for his first goal of the campaign.
New York(8-6-2) struck back just over a minute later at the 7:28 mark. Anders Lee made a lead pass from the neutral zone to Mathew Barzal. He skated in alone though the slot, faked a forehand shot and placed a backhand shot by Roberto Luongo.
In the second period, the Islanders took a 2-1 lead at 8:10. Scott Mayfield sent a shot from the right point that hit off Keith Yandle in the left circle. It bounced to Brock Nelson in the high slot and he scored on a snap shot.
The Cats evened it up with 46 seconds left in the second. Mike Matheson blasted a slapshot from the left point which deflected off Evgenii Dadonov and off the back half-wall. Mike Hoffman backhanded the puck to the crease and it deflected off Ryan Pulock's right skate and into the Islanders cage. Hoffman extended his point-scoring streak to 11 games while Dadonov now has a 10-game point streak.
The Panthers made it 3-2 on a 4-on-3 power play at 4:43 of the third period. Yandle was at the top of the zone, waited and passed it to Alekander Barkov at the top left circle. He put in a wrist shot for his third tally of the season. Troy Brouwer put in an empty-net goal with 00.3 seconds remaining to clinch the win.
