The Palm Beach Central Broncos host the Western Wildcats in a Class 8A regional semifinal on Friday night. The Wildcats upset the Broncos 14-12 last year in the second round.
Western(9-2) lost the District 12 title to Plantation on a three-way tiebreaker based on playoff points. They gained revenge from their playoff loss last year against Atlantic with a 21-7 victory last week. The Wildcats lost their two games by a combined five points. They have outscored their opponents 315-107 this year.
Palm Beach Central(10-1) have won 10 consecutive games following a loss to Atlantic 14-0 in the regular season opener. The Broncos knocked off district rival Wellington 44-14 in the first round last week. They have outscored their opponents 421-85 and compiled four shutouts this year. They have not allowed more than 14 points in a contest this season.
The Broncos defense is led by defensive back Akeem Dent. They have a choice to use two different quarterbacks during the course of a game with Mike Moreland and Anarjahe Douriet. Wide receivers Bryan Robinson, Gen'Taris Oliver, De'angelo Pompey, Kai Rosado and Kaishawn Curry look to make pass receptions from them. Running backs C.J. Stewart, Da'quan Hamilton, Tyler Willis and Derrick Cruickshank intend to gain yardage from the backfield.
