The Miami Marlins eased by the Washington Nationals 3-2 at Nationals Park on Monday. The Marlins avoided a four-game series sweep to the Nats.
Miami(17-34) got up 1-0 in the third inning. Neil Walker knocked in Garrett Cooper with a base hit into shallow right field.
Washington(22-32) scored in the contest just in the bottom of the fifth. Brian Dozier hit a sacrifice fly to center which brought in Kurt Suzuki. Max Scherzer followed and singled into right-center field for Gerardo Parra to cross the plate.
The Marlins tied the game up 2-2 in the top of the seventh. Miguel Rojas scored as Harold Ramirez grounded into a fielder's choice to short. The Fish regained the lead in the eighth inning when Rojas drove in Starlin Castro on a sacrifice fly to right field.
